As the smoke of a furniture fire rises in the distance, the intrepid band of friends
known as Sofa Kings march on to their destiny. A destiny so uncertain
that it's inevitable. Their fate was sealed on that stormy winter night
in July, 1997 when they first joined voices and strings together. This band of brothers
went on to immortalize themselves on optical disk and in the public arena. The "band that
should have never been", was. Songs that should never have beeen written, were.
The gigs that shouldn't have been, were. And the heavens rained down upon them.

| Location: |
Tom Evans Plaza, Main and Burnett, Ames IA |
Star Date: |
August 11th from 5:00 - 6:15, when it busted out raining |
Event:

A cloud burst rains on Sofa Kings' parade. Stage area becomes an ad-hoc lake. Plastic sheeting used to
protect from the falling rain succeeds only in plugging the drain. Bill's guitar and mandolin were found
floating under the shelter of the plastic.
The Soggy Sofa Kings reacted with with cosmic resignation and good humour. They're still laughing
about this great Rock n' Roll calamity as only those who experienced the deluge could. The upholstery is
still drying out and continues to smell like a wet dog.
* Make sure you're there for the next Sofa Kings cosmic mishap.
